It is estimated that a surface area equivalent to the city of São Paulo, Milan, or Stockholm will be built every week until 2050 and 70% of the world’s population residing in cities by then as well. The need for high-quality design and construction has never been more critical.
Often rushed, urbanization is outpacing population growth, while small towns and rural areas struggle with shrinking populations. Those despite communities and nature being under great pressure, there remain opportunities. This includes the potential for innovative urban development strategies to create vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive cities that enhance the quality of life for all residents.
The session offers a multi-stakeholder approach to delve into the planning, delivery and management of living environments; to explore the role of high-quality built environments; and to identify measures of enhancing the effectiveness of high-quality design and construction.
